The Advisory & Information Centre on Discrimination & Violence in Employment is a central service unit at the University of Bremen for dealing with conflict, discrimination and violence experienced in the work place. The services are open to employees, students and guests of the University of Bemen as well as others from business, government - institutions and Non-Profit-Organisations.
AIESEC (Association Internationale des Etudiants en Sciences Economiques et Commerciales)
The AISEC - with more than 800 local committees in 100 countries - is the largest international student organisation in Germany, with chapters at 50 Universities and Universities of Applied Sciences. AISEC offers students 5.500 intensive international work placements as well as more than 7.700 challenging leadership projects annually. Moreover, there is the opportunity to network with students, young professionals, companies and organisations world-wide during their studies.

IAESTE is an international association, which organises international internships for students in technical and natural sciences as well as agricultural programmes. In addition to internship placements (and sometimes longer employments) IAESTE offers their interns support with immigration and housing, and organises extracuricular activities in the host country.

The program is intended for female students and alumni in the humanities and social sciences (departments 6-12) at the University of Bremen, who are interested in earning a PhD. Among others the programmes goals include imparting subject-oriented information on academia as a career and developing competencies for a career in higher education.
KIS (Kontakt- und Informationsstelle für Studierende mit Behinderung oder chronischer Erkrankung)
[contact- and information office for students with disabilities and chronic illnesses]
The KIS is the first point of contact for students with disabilities, chronic illnesses due to i.e. diabetes, mental illnesses, epilepsy or current severe injuries (i.e. due to accidents). The KIS also offers its services to students without an official disabled-persons-ID. The KIS's services are adressed to students in secondary education, students in university as well as alumni. The KIS offers advice on questions regarding studying with disabilities: hardship provisions, measures to balance disadvantages, organising their studies, financial aid and assistance. The KIS's services are confidential, impartial and free of charge.

Tertiary education is a phase in a persons life which aside from the educational aspects is marked by many individual changes. Old friendships desolve and new ones develop; the relationship to parents may become less close, relationships change, and one is charged with making decisions for one's career and future. In addition to this, university often causes self-doubts in students due to academic pressure, competition and a general lack of clarity as to what is expected of them. As students, you may use the ptbs services free of charge anytime when classes are in session as well as during the semester breaks. The ptb helps with counselling in personal matters as well as academic issues. The entire staff at the ptb are bound to confidentiality.
