M6 Development Fund

Doktorand im Gespräch mit zwei Lehrbeauftragten

Supporting the University of Bremen's Emerging Areas of Research

The Development Fund provides selected dynamic areas of the University with an additional boost to their development by funding limited-term W2 professorships.

Provided they prove successful, these areas can subsequently be included in the University's long-term hiring plan after 2017. The new professorships will then become permanent positions.

Along with Exploratory Projects and Creative Units, the Development Fund serves to ensure the University's capacity for thematic regeneration.

In 2013, two five-year limited-term professorships will be funded in the areas of "Media and Communication Studies" and "East European Studies" respectively. In 2014 the Rectorate will decide on whether to introduce funding for limited-term professorships in two further areas of the University. Researchers working in other emergent areas of research can submit proposals to the Rectorate via their respective Faculty at the start of 2013. Applicants should elucidate their grounds for perceiving their area of research as being dynmic and explain what development boosts are to be expected.
