External Funding of Research

The University of Bremen has a sound track record in respect of acquiring external funds for its research projects: One third of the University’s entire budget comes from this source, and half of this from the German Research Foundation, DFG. Within the Excellence Initiative conducted by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and the German Research Foundation, the University of Bremen has so far been awarded a cluster of excellence and two graduate schools. more »

Doctoral Students and Post-Docs

More and more young researchers are choosing to come to the University of Bremen for their doctoral studies ? upwards of 300 every year, many of whom studying on doctoral programs and with support from the University of Bremen’s research academy. Research Funding

The Central Research Development program of the University of Bremen was the first of its kind in Germany. It opens up opportunities to pursue new strands of research and building new profile: The Central Research Development funds 120 positions – so-called halbe Stellen –  in support of innovative research projects and the advancement of young researchers. This also facilitates the acquisition of third-party funding on the part of national and European funding organizations. more »
