Non-mobile foreign students [Bildungsinländer/Bildungsinländerinnen] are persons who received their secondary school leaving certificate in the German school system. International students [Bildungsausländern] are persons who received their secondary school leaving certificate in a country outside of Germany.
All students of the University of Bremen are able to acquire the Certificate of Intercultural Competence. Some of the modules have been adapted for international students.
1. The mandatory module “cross-cultural training” has to be completed both by non-mobile foreign students as well as international students. It is therefore offered in English as well as in the German language.
2. International students can complete elective module A “International Experience” during their stay in Germany. The specified periods of time are the same.
3. In the elective module B, besides the active involvement on programs of the International Office and membership of student groups or associations, your participation in courses or events organized by such groups can also be assessed as being an intercultural activity. The points are allocated on the basis of how long you participated and how intensive your involvement was.
4. In the elective module C “Intercultural Further Education”, points can be awarded to international students who attend seminars and lecture courses based on aspects of life in Germany.
