kompass supports initiatives of students that help shaping the course of studies and organizing leisure time events. Students, the university’s staff and external partners work together in projects to create an international campus.
Currently, there are 13 communities and project groups that were formed based on similar interests – such as film, music, and dance. The communities organize events on a regular base. To get an insight have a look at our pictures and reports. Get to know new and interesting people at the university and spend your free time with them. No matter if culture nights, the kompass-caravan or international movie nights: The events are open for everyone!
Detailed information and specific dates can be found through our calendar, our facebook-website or our mailing list.
The following project groups and communities are supported or were initiated by kompass:
If you are interested in working with one of these project groups, please contact the project leader or come to one of our newcomer meetings (“Neulingstreffen”). You will find the upcoming dates in our calendar. If you have new ideas and would like to establish a project group, please contact the project leader.
You can also meet the kompass-community during our “meet & eat” in the refectory (Mensa/boulevard) for lunch or just to talk: Our meeting point is every Tuesday at 12:30 o’clock in front of “Café Kultur” below the cafeteria (Mensa/Boulevard).
The Study Buddy program exists since 2007. It promotes the exchange between international and German students. The buddy takes over important tasks to help settling down, so that international exchange students find their way around in Bremen and feel welcomed. You can find new friends, practice your foreign languages and develop international contacts that can also help preparing for a stay abroad. For those that are international experienced, you can pass on intercultural know-how and skills to others. The placements depend on similar interests and fields of study.
The International Office issues a certificate for the participation in the Study Buddy program. The participation is also accredited for the Intercultural Certificate.

The award is endowed with 50 000 Euros by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the Stifterverband and is yearly given to universities for an exemplary concept of internationalization and the support of international students.
