National Visa for the purpose of research (researcher's visa)

Researcher's visa

With the latest reform of the immigration law, special residence entitlements for researchers have been introduced: The "researcher's visa" and the "residence permit for the purpose of scientific research" (Section 20 of the Residence Act). They entitle the researcher to become gainfully employed for the research project designated in the hosting agreement and also to teach.

These new residence entitlements are designed to facilitate entry and stay for researchers from Non-EU-Countries within Germany and the European Union, to accelerate application procedures, and to facilitate mobility within the EU.
