Guest Lecturer Program

Bringing the World to Bremen

The "Guest Lecturer Program" enables academics from abroad to come to Bremen on a limited teaching stay, thus giving them an opportunity to build up their own research networks. The goal of the initiative is to provide students who are unable to move abroad to gain experience of international learning and gather the substantial intercultural competence they would otherwise only be able to obtain by studying abroad.

Information for Applicants

  • The Professor at Bremen University extending the invitation submits an application to the International Office, together with accompanying documents and under observance of corresponding deadlines.
  • Shortly after the application deadline expires, applicants will receive written notification of whether the application has been approved and, if so, the appropriate funds will be released.
  • The following documents must be made available to the International Office either during or shortly after the teaching stay comes to an end: receipts for teaching materials, student attendance lists, a short report on the teaching stay.
  • Approved projects will be funded in a lump-sum amount up to max. 3,000 euros. The precise amount will be calculated on the basis of Bremen public-sector regulations governing travel expenses and associated expenses within the framework of funds available to the President’s Office.
  • Remuneration (teaching fees, or similar) is not possible.
