Museums

Bremen

Museums in Bremen serve for every taste - traditional to modern. There are so many museums to see that we cannot list them all but here are a few highlights.

  • Bremen KunsthalleDisplays 600 years of painting, sculpture, print, and media art masterpieces. The most impressive are the special exhibitions such as Claude Monet or Edvard Munch.
  • Bremen Overseas Museum: African art, overseas animals and plants or gold from America; this museum invites you to explore foreign worlds and history.
  • Art collections on Böttcherstraße: The Paula Modersohn-Becker Museum and the Museum in the Roselius-Building. The Paula Modersohn-Becker Museum is dedicated to this artist and shows a variety of her paintings as well as a collection by Bernhard Hoetgers. The Roselius-Building has late-medival art and middle class home decor, and silver tresures from Riga.
  • Focke-Museum: Here you will find the history of Bremen throughout the last 1200 years. A park surrounds the historic buildings.
  • Universum Bremen: An interactive science museum with over 250 exhibits, a discovery park, and special exhibitions in the SchauBox
  • Bremen Botanical Museum: Discover fascinating plants and asian life systems.

Bremerhaven

  • German Emigration Museum in Bremerhaven: Europe's largest theme museum on emigration. Visitors can follow in the footsteps of the more than 7 million people who emigrated overseas via Bremerhaven.
  • Klimahaus Bremerhaven 8° Ost :Through investigation of 5 continents, 9 villages, and all climatic regions of the world, the Klimahaus answers questions about climate and the like.
