Public Tranportation

The public transportation system in Germany is well established, but also quite expensive. Most destinations can be reached easily and conveniently with Deutschen Bahn, S-Bahnen, buses, subway, or tram. Bicycle lanes are also widely used in Bremen as this could be a practical alternative to public transportation.

S-Bahn

In Bremen

If you do not own a bicycle, the cheapest way to get around is using the BSAG (Bremen tram system). On the BSAG website you will find prices, ticket types, timetables, and connections.

Individual assistance can be provided at the BSAG customer service centre at the train station or at the tram stop Domsheide (city centre). Tickets can be bought at these locations, kiosks, or directly on the bus or tram.

A single ticket for adults costs between 2.30 and 2.90 Euro. You can also buy tickets in sheets of 4 or 10 at a lower cost in the service centres or kiosks. It is also possible to purchase weekly, monthly, or yearly tickets. Bicycles and dogs are permitted if you buy another ticket.

University employees can apply for a Jobticket.

For the rest of Germany there is the regional or national trains through Deutsche Bahn. To recieve information or purchase tickets you can go online or go to the train station customer service centre for individual assistance.

It is recommended to use the Quer-durchs-Land-Ticket for 42 Euro, which allows you to travel through Germany on as many regional trains as you like for a day. When you travel with up to four additional people, the cost is only 6 Euro per person.

The Schönes-Wochenende-Ticket, for 39 Euro, is the same as the Quer-durchs-Land-Ticket but used only on a weekend day, and covers up to 5 travellers.

With the Länder-Ticket, which is priced from 20 Euro, you can travel within a state for a day, with up to 5 people.
