
The advancement of young researchers is a very high priority at the University of Bremen and we offer doctoral students and post-docs a wide range of support services. Among the most important of these is the ProUB Graduate Center which was established in 2010, a central service bureau providing flanking support for doctoral studies. Then there are the structured doctoral programs offered by the graduate schools and research training groups at the University, as well as the many offers of advice and training measures open to all young researchers working towards their doctorate.
Over the past few years the University of Bremen has seen the number of doctoral awards rise steadily, both in absolute terms as well as in relation to the number of supervising professors. The declared objective is to continue improving the conditions for young researchers so that even more doctoral dissertations can be successfully completed within a clearly structured time-frame – whether within the context of the classical individual doctoral dissertation, in a research group, or in structured doctoral programs.
