
The Graduate Center of the University of Bremen works under the mottos "PhD networks", "independent research" and "personality development". We will be pleased to inform you on any general issues surrounding your doctoral studies and inform you about our very varied qualification program, which also contains details of the training measures offered by our cooperation partners. We can also offer assistance in joining Doc-Networks and PhD success teams, in which doctoral students work together and offer reciprocal support.
Our team is here to help everyone who is either just interested in obtaining a PhD or has already been accepted as a doctoral student or their supervisors. For advice pertaining to your actual dissertation you should contact the professors in the respective faculties.
The modern workplace is a collaborative environment. In both research science and industry, it is essential for success to be able to work productively with other individuals and groups whilst promoting your own ideas and projects.
However, having the skills is not enough. This workshop will have a section on building confidence to give you the determination to convert these skills into meaningful action.Participants will learn useful, easy-to-follow guidelines which will enable them to be proactive and flexible while advancing their ideas, projects and so their career. The Welcome Center managed to find a way to organize exclusive German classes for international researchers and PhD students in the future.
Together with the University’s Language Center and the Goethe institute, they now offer 3 courses on different levels in summer semester 2013 (starting in May). Key facts: duration ca. 4 months - 1.5 to 3 hrs per week - low course fee

The Graduate Center PLUS is a measure contained in the Institutional Strategy to expand the offer of ProUB and aimed at achieving a “plus” in the quality of training for our doctoral students. Funding will be made available for doc-networks, success teams, external supervisors and postgraduate research projects. You can find more information here.
Bridging stipends for prospective doctoral candidates for a maximum of two six-month . Applications to be submitted by 01.09.2013. Six stipends are available for each application date. (more information).
Impulse Grants: Doctoral students can receive support (up to 1500 €) for activities that clearly contribute to an added value within the context of their PhD. Next application dates: 15.6. and 15.10.2013 (more information).
