General Information

The extra-curricular training program for doctoral students run by ProUB, the University’s Graduate Center, enables doctoral students to acquire additional professional skills and thereby advance their career prospects.

The training program comprises courses and workshops organized by ProUB and other University institutions. The courses offered by ProUB are listed in the program in bold type. You can find a list of current offers here.

Costs

The courses and events organized by ProUB are free of charge. The courses and workshops offered by other University institutions contributing to the program may be subject to payment.

Participation

All the courses and workshops are carried out by experienced trainers. In some cases participation may be limited to a specific target group. You will be able to see this from the course description. As a rule, the training takes place in block courses lasting between one and two days. Provided they attend for the whole period, participants are able to receive a certificate.

Registration

You can register for ProUB courses and workshops using the online registration forms which is linked below the course description.   Your registration will then be confirmed by e-mail and becomes binding.

In the event that more registrations are received than places available, selection will be made on a first-come first-served basis.

PhD students whose applications are turned down because a course is too full will be given priority for admittance to the next course offered by the Graduate Center on the same topic.

The courses and workshops included in the ProUB program but run by other cooperating University institutions are subject to their own regulations for registration and admittance. Just click on the title of the course you are interested in and you will be taken to the corresponding website pages, where you can register and also find further details (e.g. deadlines for applications and withdrawals). In the case of some cooperating institutions (e.g. the Careers Center of the ZfN Network Center), registration is possible at Stud.IP (information on Stud.IP).

Waiting list

If a course is already booked out you can put your name on a waiting list. You really should do this: Experience has shown that places do become available again on almost every course.

Cancellation

If you have to cancel your registration for a ProUB course, please do this by sending an e-mail to proub@vw.uni-bremen.de.

We urge you to cancel in good time if you are not able to attend or only partially attend a course you have registered for. The number of participants is deliberately kept low, so we need to give your place to someone on the waiting list. The courses take place on a regular basis and you will soon be able to attend another time.

In the event that a person registered for a course fails to cancel, we reserve the right to treat future registrations as subordinate.

Details of cancellation procedures in place with our cooperation institutions can be found on their respective websites.

Refreshments

Meals and refreshments are not provided at courses run by ProUB. Participants are asked to bring their own drinks and snacks. However, the rooms used by ProUB and its cooperation partners are very near to the restaurants and cafés located on the campus.

Electronic storage of personal data

In the course of its work the Graduate Center at Bremen University, ProUB, electronically stores data on persons. This is necessary to ensure smooth registration procedures and to carry out its extra-curricular training program. The storage of data is carried out in accordance with legal requirements.
