The University of Bremen can admit students of other Bremen universities as auditors. They can attend lecture courses for a period of one semester, always provided this causes no hindrance to regular students of the University and attending the course(s) in question is deemed necessary or expedient for applicants’ own study programs. Applicants have to provide grounds for why they wish to attend.
Under substantiated exceptional circumstances, students belonging to universities outside of Bremen may also be admitted as auditors.
Auditors are not matriculated as students of the University of Bremen, although they do have the same rights and responsibilities as the University’s regular students.
Applications, including a declaration of consent signed by the respective professor(s) or lecturer(s), must be handed in personally to the Office for Student Affairs before the respective closing dates (summer semester 31.05. / winter semester 30.11.). Auditors are then issued a written permission to attend the selected course(s).
If you are neither registered at another university nor intending to take up full-time studies, you can still attend lecture courses at the University of Bremen as guest student (Gasthörerin oder Gasthörer, In German only).
The forms you need to apply for admittance as an auditor [Nebenhörer], the Application form [PDF] (59 KB) for auditors can be downloaded.
