In the Times Higher Education (THE) Ranking, the University of Bremen came in at place 26 among the wolrd's "100 Under 50" young universites, confirming its position as one of the world's best unter-fifty-year old universites.
In summer semester 2014 the University of Bremen started the project "IN-Touch" offering refugees with academic background the opportunity to visit the university as special auditors. In summer 2015 the European Commission listed this project as an Example of Good Practice and evaluate the project as "a role model for other institutions".
The University Bremen chalks up another success in the area of gender mainstreaming in academia: Within the frame of the second round of the Female Professor Programme supported by the German Ministry of Education and the Federal Länder it is granted finance to fund several new professorships to be filled by women.

The University of Bremen and the Würzburg-Schweinfurt University of Applied Sciences are jointly awarded first place in the competition “MINTernational” [MINT = STEM subjects] organized by the Stifterverband [Donors' association for the promotion of science and the humanities in Germany] and the Daimler und Benz-Stiftung.

The Verein Arbeit und Zukunft presented the University of Bremen with the "Trommel 2013" (Trommel = drum) for the model project "INWi - Inclusion in academia.
For ten times in a row, the University of Bremen managed to obtain the so-called EMAS certification and therewith belongs to the small number of German universities and colleges that are officially entitled to call themselves an environmentally friendly institution.
