Candidates with excellent scientific qualifications are invited to apply for the open professorship in Communication Networks. This professorship is located at the Institute for Telecommunications and High-Frequency Techniques (ITH) in the Faculty of Physics and Electrical Engineering.

Candidates should have excellent research backgrounds in at least one of these fields:

  • Architectures and protocols for wireless and sensor networks
  • Future Internet architectures and protocols
  • Communication networks for smart grids.

Eligible candidates should be committed to excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching as well as in supervising doctoral candidates. Teaching assignments will include courses in the subject area and the basic courses in electrical engineering and communication technology Bachelor and Master programs. Candidates have excellent didactic skills and must be able to teach in English. They are expected to have acquired teaching skills in German after 2 to 3 years.

Interdisciplinary cooperation with relevant disciplines both within and outside the institute is a prerequisite for successful development of this research field. In particular, participation in at least one of the University’s high profile areas, especially in the area information, cognition, and communication is expected.  

The required academic qualifications are a university degree in electrical engineering or computer science, an outstanding doctorate degree in a relevant field, and an international scientific standing. Several years of experience in industrial research or non-academic research will be viewed very favourable. International research experience is also highly appreciated.
