Post Doctoral Researcher

The University of Bremen, Faculty of Social Sciences, Department of Political Science seeks to hire for the newly established Chair ‘Governance and Organizational Studies’ (Prof. Dr. Miriam Hartlapp)


Post Doctoral Researcher
(full time position, 39,2 h/ week)


The three year appointment, with the possibility of extension is to start on 1.8. or 1.10.2013. Salary will be in accordance with German civil service standards (E 13 T-L)


The Post-doctoral position is designed for a scholar who has recently received his or her PhD in order to

  • contribute to research and teaching in the area of the Chair;
  • carry out independent empirical research on a topic related to the Chair;
  • teach 2 courses per semester (4 SWS), including supervision and examination of students.


We are looking for a Post-doc candidate who has:

  • a PhD in Political Science in the area of European integration and/or social policy, from a University in Germany or abroad (a specialization on questions of governance, regulation or economic, employment & social policy in multi-level systems is particularly welcome);
  • a strong background in empirical methods;
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills in English;
  • a high ability to work in a team as well as a structured, analytical and independent way of working.


Assets:

  • command of other European languages (particularly French);
  • experience with comparative international / European research designs and in applying for and working with third-party research grants.
