Always reachable by cell phone, partner search via the Internet, new media in schools – and even in the church: Media communication is synonymous with profound changes to culture and society. But precisely how do these changes come about? What is the real impact of new media on our lives? Researchers in the group “Communicative Figurations” investigate how people are increasingly becoming intertwined with the media. Initiated by the University of Bremen’s Center for Media, Communication and Information Research (ZeMKI), the collaborative research project was selected for funding in a competitive international call procedure. The project is being funded by the University of Bremen as a “Creative Unit” for a period of three years within the context of the Excellence Initiative launched by the German Government and the Federal States.
