The communicating Ph.D. student – mastering scientific team work and everyday university life

Date/Venue: 14.-16. September 2012 at Gut Ankelohe in Bad Bederkesa

Trainer: Dr. Vinzenz Bauer, Oldenburg

The workshop:

In this workshop we will focus on general communication processes in small and large teams. However, the individual participant will continuously have the opportunity to analyze his or her own behavior in guided personal and group based reflections. The specificities and psychological implications of individual Ph.D. student’s communication situations, hierarchical positions and work environments in departments, workshops and laboratories will be addressed. As one more general component we will discuss intercultural communication and the related issues. In order to practically achieve the goal of improving communication, work situations will be simulated to provide for tangible experiences. Goals and subject knowledge will be developed using participatory methods, thus the wants and needs of the participants will naturally be considered.
