with full time position. The position is to be filled as soon as possible, for a period of 36 months.
The employment is fixed-term and governed by the Act of Academic Fixed-Term Contract, §2 I (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz – WissZeitVG). Therefore, candidates may only be considered for appointment if they still have the respective qualification periods available in accordance with § 2 (1) WissZeitVG.
The Semiconductor Spectroscopy Group (Prof. Gutowski) as member of the Institute of Solid State Physics (IFP), http://www.ifp.uni-bremen.de/semiconductor-optics, works in the field of novel low-dimensional semiconductor structures on base of II-VI and nitride materials, TMDs and hybrid organic-anorganic devices.
Job description :
The successful applicant holds a PhD and will play a leading role in the research group of Prof. Gutowski in the field of highly space- and time-resolved spectroscopy (fs/ps spectroscopy, microphotoluminescence - µPL) on the a.m. structures and devices. The group works in strong collaboration with the other groups at the Institute of Solid State Physics, comprising epitaxy, electron microscopy, and surface physics, further, with the groups of solid state theory as well as with external partners.
Besides research, the duties comprise involvement in university-level teaching (4 hours per week during each semester) i.e. execution of exercises, supervision of student projects and student lab training.
The successful candidate has achieved a very good to excellent PhD in physics or in a very near field and is very well educated in physics, either having studied physics or, if having studied a neighboring discipline, with clearly emphasis on topics in solid state physics. Considerable experience and knowledge in spectroscopy of solids are required. Knowledge in time-resolved spectroscopy is of high importance.
Besides the PhD, an adequate number of scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals and of participation in (international) conferences should be in the records. Ability to work in a team and international networking is required. Excellent knowledge and practice in spoken and written English is indispensable.
We offer a team oriented, attractive, forefront and future oriented research environment. It opens diverse options for scientific qualification paths as a step towards an independent scientific career.
The University of Bremen aims at increasing the number of women in science and therefore explicitly encourages applications from female candidates.
Disabled persons will be given preference in case of equal qualification. Applicants with a migration background are welcome.
