The Center for Tropical Marine Ecology (ZMT)is a research and training institution at the University of Bremen, Germany. It combines 

• Research on aquatic systems with partners in the tropics,
• Training and education of foreign and German MSc. and PhD. students in aquatic tropical ecology,
• Coordination of German research in tropical coastal waters.

ZMT takes an integrated interdisciplinary approach to ecosystem research and coastal management in tropical coastal areas. The scientific staff amounts to about 35.
