BIGSSS is an inter-university institute of the University of Bremen (UB) and Jacobs University Bremen, which has been granted funding by the German Excellence Initiative. Founded in 2008, this new school aims at integrating excellent areas of graduate education and research at UB and Jacobs in a synergetic inter-university institution designed to become an internationally competitive model of graduate education.
