ISIS studies all aspects of the sensorization of technical structures. Technologies of this kind can be employed for structural health monitoring in aerospace application, in medical engineering or for control of manufacturing processes. The whole area from basic layout and dimensioning to materials and process development and operation of such components is covered. This requires an interdisciplinary approach involving the faculties 1, 3 and 4. Simulation, materials science, manufacturing technology, information science and energy management form central fields of the orgnisations competence.
