This course aims to equip participants with the tools needed in order to hold effective meetings in English. The first half of the course will cover how to prepare for a meeting, how effective meetings are structured, and how to listen actively. It will also consider the role of gender and culture in communication, and how meeting holders can create an inclusive and balanced environment.
The second half of the course will consist of practising different types of meetings. It will provide learners with experience in the different roles required of participants in a meeting, including the chairperson and the minute-taker. Students will practise setting and following an agenda, negotiating skills, encouraging participation and constructive outcomes, and formulating clear arguments.
