The appointment training prepares for applications for professorships at universities in Germany. The participants receive concrete information on the legal basis, the procedure and the individual elements of appointment procedures as well as tips on how to best prepare for an application and how to design the application documents. In addition, information will be given about the interview with the appointment committee and the appointment negotiations.

Every participant further gets the opportunity to take part in a one-to-one coaching session of up to 60 minutes in order to elaborate on individual questions, to reveive feedback on application documents, to rehearse the commission interview or to discuss negotiation strategies. (The timeslots for the coaching sessions will be arranged individually with the participants.)

Focus:
•    appointment procedures at German universities
•    content and style of application documents
•    preparation of the scientific talk, demonstration lesson and interview with the appointment committee
•    information and hints on negotiations for professorial positions (e.g. facilities, salary)

Dr. Patricia Grünberg

Trainer: Dr. Patricia Grünberg

Dr. Patricia Grünberg received her Dr. degree in Communication Science from University Leipzig and conducted an additional master in Human Resources Development at Technical University of Kaiserslautern. After several years as research associate, she worked in science management of University Hamburg. As Career Development Manager at the Cluster of Excellence cfaed, she specialized in appointment processes, the graduate support program, and in career advice. Since 2018, she has been involved in the set-up of the new research institute Barkhausen Institut.
