Open Full-Time PhD Position at ComNets Bremen

The Sustainable Communication Network Group (ComNets) at the University of Bremen, Germany, is looking for a full-time PhD student for 3 years asap. Possible topics cover all aspects and applications of the Internet of Things: hardware design and deployments, hardware and software resilience, energy efficiency, networking protocols, system architectures, data processing with machine learning, modeling, and simulation. 

 

ComNets Bremen is a highly international research team led by Prof. Dr. Anna Förster. We are organized into two labs, one focusing on modelling and simulation of IoT systems and applications and one on hardware development, resilience, and real-world deployments. The lab members meet weekly to discuss recent publications and news from the research and industrial IoT communities and to discuss ongoing challenges and developments. We work together on publications and research projects and support each other. We enable all kinds of applications - from agriculture and livestock protection through environmental 

monitoring to Mars habitats and autonomous driving. We cooperate with various internationally renowned research groups worldwide, including Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Italy, Sweden, Belgium, Netherlands, Thailand, Sri Lanka, and many more. 

 

The potential candidate will cooperate closely with the other team members and with our cooperation partners. At least one stay abroad for a longer time will be organised, and financial support for conferences and summer schools is available. 

 

Requirements for the candidate:

- Master's degree with a grade of at least 2.0 (German scale, corresponds to approx. 80%) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or similar.

- Excellent knowledge of at least one high programming language (e.g. Python or C++)

- Excellent technical English (level C1)

- High motivation, ability to learn from feedback
