WHAT’S THIS SESSION ABOUT?
The AI services provided by GWDG offer researchers a flexible and secure platform for applying state-of-the-art artificial intelligence in practice. The portfolio includes a powerful chatbot with advanced features such as retrieval-augmented generation, tool integration, and MCP support, as well as services for speech transcription and image processing. All components are accessible through an intuitive web interface and can be seamlessly integrated into existing research workflows via an OpenAI-compatible API.
Developed within the framework of the KISSKI project (AI Service Centre for Sensitive and Critical Infrastructures), these services are designed to meet high standards of data protection and security. This makes them particularly well suited for research projects involving sensitive data or critical application contexts. The talk will introduce the available services, highlight practical use cases, and invite researchers to explore how these AI tools can support and enhance their own work.
WHERE AND WHEN?
The session will take place from 1:00 to 1:30pm via Zoom. There will be a 15-20 minute presentation followed by an open forum for questions and discussion. The slides will be shared afterwards. We look forward to exciting discussions!

ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Hauke Kirchner began his career as a biologist at the University of Göttingen, specialising in ecology and bioinformatics. Combining these two areas of study in his Master's degree in Forest Science at the University of Applied Sciences Eberswalde (HNEE), he developed an interest in machine learning applied to remote sensing data and HPC systems for large-scale analysis.
At the GWDG, he now supports researchers via the NHR Alliance (German National High-Performance Computing) and develops Al services as part of the KISSKI Al Service Centre and the EU Al Factory HammerHAl.
