One Data Portal Developer position (w/m/d)

Salary group up to 13 TV-L / full-time position

The position is a fixed-term, renewable contract at University Bremen, starting as soon as possible and limited to the January 31st 2022. Salary and benefits are linked to the German federal employee scale up to EG 13 TV-L depending on the qualification

The PANGAEA Data Publisher for Earth and Environmental Sciences (www.pangaea.de ) is a joint facility of MARUM (www.marum.de) at University Bremen and AWI (www.awi.de), Bremerhaven. It is responsible for data preservation and integration in numerous national, European and international research projects. The position is tied to The DFG project QualiService, coordinated by the University of Bremen which aims to implement a supraregional archive and data service centre (DSZ) for qualitative social science interview data with particular regard to the specific requirements of data protection and data security for qualitative data as well as coordination with other national and international institutions.

The successful candidate will be responsible for (1) programming of the QualiService search portal with autocomplete function and search facets as well as the technical integration of GESIS and other relevant research data into the search portal. (2) implementation of the QualiService data submission service for the upload of anonymised and/or pseudonymised data and the integration of the tool into a ticket system. (3) Preparation and extension of web interfaces for the registration of suitable archive packages in the DataCite Registry. (4) Assistance in the creation of test and use cases to improve QualiService services.

We look for a candidate who enjoys working within a scientific, interdisciplinary context, with solid understanding in the research data management landscape in Europe and interest in science policy, planning, technical and service issues related to research-data management.

We seek candidates with:

  • Master or Diploma degree in computer sciences or comparable qualification acquired through professional experience.
  • Strong programming skills and experiences in web programming (PHP, JavaScript, XML, XSLT).
  • Solid knowledge in interface programming (REST, JSON) for databases and full-text search engines.
  • Experiences in the field of research data management or document management and related systems as well as with ticket systems and data protection would be an advantage.
  • Thorough knowledge of English ( CEF B2), written and spoken
  • Ability to work in a team, with high interpersonal skills and assertiveness
