1 x 1,0 Post-Doctoral Researcher (f/m/d)

The Cluster of Excellence “Ocean Floor – Earth’s Uncharted Interface”, hosted at the Research Faculty MARUM - Centre for Marine Environmental Sciences, at the University of Bremen, invites applications for the position of post-doctoral researcher (f/m/d), (salary group 13 TV-L / full-time position) within the framework of the project:

Determinants of pelagic carbonate productivity

The project is a contribution to the Cluster research area RECORDER, working on the understanding of past and present climate-ecosystem-biogeochemistry feedbacks. Using material and data from sediment traps and marine sediments, the project will identify and quantify processes that determine pelagic carbonate production, sedimentation and dissolution throughout the Cenozoic.

The position should start as soon as possible and is limited to December 31st 2022. Salary corresponds to TV-L E13. The employment is fixed-term and governed by the Act of Academic Fixed-Term Contract, §2 I (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz – WissZeitVG).

Successful candidates will be based at the MARUM - an internationally recognised centre for marine research with a focus on the geosciences, anchored at the University of Bremen. MARUM provides an ideal environment for postdoctoral researchers to become excellent in their field of expertise and to develop their personal skills to further their career. The Research Faculty offers opportunities for transdisciplinary exchange and collaboration across different disciplines in marine sciences. Postdoctoral researchers can make use of coaching and mentoring offers as well as a dedicated course and training programme.

Your profile:

  • Completed PhD in geosciences, environmental sciences or related fields
  • Knowledge of micropalaeontology, geochemistry, and (paleo)oceanography
  • Experience with pelagic carbonate producers (foraminifera, nannoplankton)
