Human Resources Strategy for Researchers (HRS4R)
Since September 2022, the university holds the EU "HR Excellence in Research Award". With this award, the EU Commission honors scientific institutions that offer scientists both good working conditions and an appropriate working environment. This award is based on the standards formulated in the "European Charter for Researchers" and the "Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers".
In 2021, scientists at all career levels, administrative staff, and interest groups jointly conducted a comprehensive status quo analysis and developed a catalog of actions based on this analysis. In the implementation phase (2022-2024), the university is now implementing this catalog of actions and thus developing its own HR strategy for researchers.
For the implementation, the university is using the toolbox provided by the EU for its own "Human Resources Strategy for Researchers" (HRS4R) in order to design this quality assurance process as a permanent task in a structured, responsible manner and in a participatory process together with scientists at all career levels. Furthermore, with this award, the University of Bremen sets an example for its own international visibility, also in the competition for EU research funding.
