Summer, Sun, Sunshine…

…and a few rain showers here and there were present at our 4th Alumni Summer Fête on August 24. Around 150 alumni came together this year at Schuppen Eins in the Überseestadt to celebrate the summer of 2018. Among the guests were the Senator of Science, Prof. Dr. Eva Quante-Brandt, the CDU whip Thomas Röwekamp, the Vice President Academic of the University of Bremen, Prof. Dr. Thomas Hoffmeister, and Vice President International and Diversity of the university, Prof. Dr. Eva-Maria Feichtner.

After welcoming words by our board member Christoph Sodemann and welcoming addresses by Senator Eva Quante-Brandt, Vice President Thomas Hoffmeister, team neusta executive director Carsten Meyer-Heder, and Bremer Aufbau Bank executive director Rolf Strapp, the ‘Hafenbrise’ buffet was opened. The delicious salads and the different choices of grilled goods appealed to all guests.

The main part of the evening was, as always, getting to know and networking with one another – so the alumni, some of whom had come specifically from other German cities, took advantage of that. This year, however, there were also two special highlights. By welcoming B-Human, the robot soccer team of the University of Bremen and the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI), we were welcoming true world champions, who demonstrated a penalty shootout just for us. Additionally, during an exclusive tour of the premises of Schuppen Eins, we were able to see what has become of the old port building: a modern combination of living and working spaces; the charm of vintage cars and modern technologies. The alumni particularly enjoyed the view of the sunset at the port basin.

We would like to thank all our members who spent the night with us, as well as our sponsors and host: team neusta, HEC, and the Bremer Aufbau Bank initiative STARTHAUS. We are already looking forward to next year!
