Research Alumni

Our Research Alumni Strategy

In 2014 the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation honored University of Bremen and Alumni der Universität Bremen e.V. - its alumni, for their successful research alumni strategy. The core of our approach has been maintaining contact with the former researchers that have come to Bremen from abroad and will be returning to their home or third countries after their stay. The goal is to create a worldwide network of research alumni at the University of Bremen; our research alumni strategy encompasses various steps towards achieving this goal which include alumni data collection, maintenance of alumni records, as well as appointing former University of Bremen researchers as Research Ambassadors.

Aiming to promote worldwide the University of Bremen and the research work it does, eleven research alumni have been appointed Research Ambassadors since the summer of 2015. Their task is to represent and promote the University abroad by acting as a liaison between the University and any prospective students and researchers. In addition to this, they help build regional networks of former students and ambassadors of University of Bremen in countries where they currently conduct teaching and research activities.

The eleven Research Ambassadors are Prof. Dr. Don Bruce, Dr. Alejandra Castro-Carranza, Prof. Krishnendu Chakrabarty, Prof. Enzo Morosini Frazzon, Prof. Kolyang, Prof. Yanbing Mao, Prof. Dr. Rozena Maart, Prof. Dr. Alex Boniface Makulilo, Prof. Frank Wilderson, Prof. Andrei Yakovlev and Dr. Natascha Zaun. They are associated with faculties 1, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8 and 10, and have their home universities in Brazil, Canada, Cameroon, China, Great Britain, Mexico, South Africa, Tansania, Russia and the USA.

We hope that you enjoyed your time at University of Bremen and that it was as productive as you had hoped! We would very much like to stay in contact with you and invite you to join our Research Alumni Network. The membership is, of course, free of charge. After you have completed your registration as a member, your profile will appear on our new interactive Alumni World Map. This map visualizes where our alumni are presently located and makes it easier for researchers and students worldwide to get in touch with them. Our alumni can be searched by country, city, home institution, area of research and other criteria.
