[Translate to English:] Jetzt »Unlock the future« fördern und Teil der Förderallianz Bildungsgerechtigkeit werden
Educational equity is not a marginal issue, but the central question for the future of our society! And it is not a luxury, but a matter of attitude and the key lever for making our education system fit for the future. Prof. Dr. Sabine Doff (pictured) is convinced of this and has launched the Educational Equity project – entitled “Unlock the future”. The Educational Equity Funding Alliance was recently launched at an event at the Stiftungshaus Bremen to provide the initiative with the necessary (financial) support.
“Let’s act together – for an education system that leaves no one behind!” Sabine Doff appeals to foundations and investors. The Educational Equity Funding Alliance aims to play its part in systematically strengthening educational equity.
“I support the project because education is the key to social inclusion. It is a matter of fairness that every child should be able to read, write and do arithmetic by the end of primary school,” says Dr Helga Trüpel (pictured), Deputy Chair of the University of Bremen Foundation, explaining her commitment.
Worum geht es?
At the heart of this ambitious project is the travelling exhibition entitled “Unlock the Future”, which includes a digital supporting programme. It will launch in Bremerhaven in May 2025 and arrive in Bremen in June 2025. The exhibition will showcase 12 schools and their best practices – schools that serve as inspiring role models through their attitude, humanity, empathy, team spirit, personal responsibility and practical focus. Images by Gesine Born show how empowerment can be achieved through photography.
In a major study, Doff has gathered scientific findings on strengthening educational equity. In schools, she encountered a wealth of expertise regarding educational equity, which must be fostered there on a daily basis. In many cases, the success of this effort is based on the schools’ own initiative and their strong commitment. Making this existing expertise and these tried-and-tested projects available to all schools and initiating new projects is, for Doff, a crucial key to systematically strengthening educational equity.
“The key lies in our hands. We have the knowledge, the solutions and the responsibility!” said the project leader. Alongside the travelling exhibition, accompanying activities such as workshops are planned for 2026 to embed the project’s solutions in as many schools as possible. The participating schools will decide for themselves what measures these will be for the initial three-year period. One example that could serve as a model is the Bremerhaven project “Schule ohne Gepäck” (School without Baggage).
