From October 7 to 9, the annual INDIFUN-AI project meeting took place at the Alfred-Wegener-Institute (AWI) in Bremerhaven. INDIFUN-AI is a BMFTR-funded research project that investigates marine biodiversity. INDIFUN-AI aims to better understand the diversity and function of marine fungi and fungal-like organisms in the marine food web. The project thereby contributes to a better assessment of climate-induced changes and the identification of reliable indicators for these changes.
INDIFUN-AI is an interdisciplinary joint project carried out in collaboration with several institutions and under the lead of the AWI. As part of the University of Bremen's subproject, the Data Science Center (DSC) is developing an automated indicator system that reliably detects changes in biodiversity. More information about the subproject can be found here.
At this year's project meeting, representatives of the different project partners came together to discuss recent developments and strengthen the cooperation between the participating institutions. Different contributions of the respective subprojects provided the basis for joint discussions surrounding current and future project activities.
The subproject of the University of Bremen was represented by Dr. Lena Steinmann (DSC coordinator), Nils Leusmann (DSC), and Christina Plump (University of Bremen, DFKI), with Nils Leusmann and Christina Plump providing an overview of the DSC's current activities within the INDIFUN-AI project. DSC data scientist Sarah Büker also took part in the event to share her expertise in the field of data management. As part of the project meeting, the participants also worked together on the development of a data management plan.
