International AI networking in Bremen: Meet the DSC at IJCAI-ECAI 2026

At IJCAI-ECAI 2026, the Data Science Centre will be represented as part of the University of Bremen’s exhibition stand. From 18 to 20 August, the DSC will be showcasing its services and activities relating to data science, data literacy and research data management.

From 15 to 21 August 2026, Bremen will become a hub for international AI research: with the International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence and the European Conference on Artificial Intelligence – IJCAI-ECAI 2026 for short – one of the most prestigious international conferences in the field of artificial intelligence will take place in Bremen. For Bremen as a centre of science, this is a special opportunity to showcase the breadth of the local AI and computer science landscape.

The Data Science Centre (DSC) will also be there: from Tuesday 18 August to Thursday 20 August 2026, the DSC will be represented as part of the University of Bremen’s exhibition stand. Dr Susanne de Vogel and Annika Nolte will be on hand to provide information about the DSC’s services, advisory offerings and activities – ranging from data science and research data management to training and support programmes for data-intensive research.

Considering data literacy in the context of AI

AI research in many fields involves working with large, complex or highly diverse datasets. This raises questions that go beyond models and algorithms: How well are the data documented? How transparent are the workflows? And under what conditions can the data be reused at a later stage?

At the University of Bremen’s exhibition stand, the DSC will address these topics and demonstrate how researchers can be supported in data- and AI-intensive projects. Particularly in the context of AI, data quality, documentation and research data management are becoming increasingly important – as the foundation for reliable, transparent and interoperable research.

Visibility and networking for the DSC

For the DSC, IJCAI-ECAI 2026 offers a great opportunity to engage with researchers, students and international guests. This exchange helps us to better understand the needs of the AI community, raise the profile of our existing services and gain fresh insights for consultancy, training and collaboration.

Furthermore, the conference offers opportunities to forge new academic contacts and partnerships. Precisely because data quality, documentation and the sustainable management of research data are becoming increasingly important in AI research, discussions at the exhibition stand may also lead to opportunities for future collaboration.

At the same time, the DSC’s presence raises the profile of the University of Bremen as a centre for data- and AI-intensive research. It demonstrates that successful AI research requires not only strong specialist communities and innovative methods, but also supportive structures that pool data expertise and promote a reflective approach to data.
