AI in Qualitative Research: DSC Contributes Expertise to the AIQM Network

Researchers in the interdisciplinary network AI meets Qualitative Methods (AIQM) are exploring the use of AI in qualitative research. In the framework of our DataNord project, the DSC contributes its expertise to the network – through impulses by Nele Fuchs, data scientist for Digital Humanities.

Strengthening and Expanding Data Science – 40 Researchers Publish Position Paper

Research with large datasets is becoming increasingly relevant across various academic disciplines. In a position paper, 40 researchers from 21 German and Austrian research institutes are calling for greater political and academic engagement in digital and data sciences.


Working Responsibly with Research Data? DSC Workshop for Doctoral Researchers

As part of the DataNord project, the DSC, together with QualiService, organized a full-day workshop for doctoral researchers in the humanities and social sciences. Nele Fuchs provided hands-on insights into key aspects of research data management, data security, and the use of AI in research.

The DSC Supports Research Stay in Oslo for Baffin Bay Model Development (BaffinDATA)

The research stay will provide the necessary datasets to support the development of a 3D numerical model for Baffin Bay (located between Greenland & Canada). The model will be used to provide insights into hydrocarbon distribution patterns that will be evaluated during an upcoming research cruise.

Mid-March, the E-Science-Days 2025 took place in Heidelberg. The theme of this year's conference was "Research Data Management: Challenges in a Changing World". DSC coordinator Dr. Lena Steinmann attended the conference to give a presentation on the data competence center "DataNord".

When Data Meets Society: New Conference Contribution on Online Hate Speech and Data Literacy

A newly published poster from the collaboration between the DSC and ifib highlights how the DataNord project strengthens data literacy and supports research on online hate speech. The poster and abstract are now available on Zenodo.


INDIFUN-AI Project Meeting at the AWI

This October, the INDIFUN-AI project meeting took place at the AWI in Bremerhaven. The BMFTR-funded project investigates the role of marine fungi and fungus-like organisms in the food web to improve the detection of climate-related changes and identify reliable indicators of these changes.
