Lisa Schüler studied Media and Communication Studies, Sociology and Education (Magister) as well as German and ethics (Lehramt für Gymnasien) at the Georg-August-University Göttingen. From 2010 to 2016, she was wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin at the Justus-Liebig-University Gießen. In her dissertation, she dealt with the newly introduced examination format “Materialgestütztes Schreiben” (writing from sources). This propaedeutic task type, in which students are faced with the challenge of evaluating a larger number of different materials and using them to write their own text, was investigated in a web-based reading and writing environment. Since July 2019, she has been employed as a Researcher at the University of Bremen and is particularly concerned with inclusion-specific issues within German didactics. In April 2020, she co-founded the first BYRD post-doc network Inklusion Interdisziplinär (In+) with Julia Weltgen (Inclusive Pedagogy) and Joanna Pfingsthorn (English Didactics).

Her work and research focus on the area of linguistics and media didactics, and especially on questions of appropriate support for writing, reading, and learning through digital media. She is currently working on a research project on dictation with speech recognition as an alternative form of text production.
