At the end of May, Carolin Stellmacher successfully defended her dissertation.

In her dissertation, titled “More than a buzz: advancing haptic feedback in virtual reality and mixed reality” she investigated how haptic feedback in virtual and mixed reality can be improved. In doing so, she explored new approaches to enable more realistic tactile experiences using standard VR and MR hardware as well as everyday objects thereby enriching immersive digital interactions even without specialized haptic devices.

Carolin was advised by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Johannes Schöning of the University of St. Gallen. He and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Marianna Obrist of University College London served as reviewers for this exciting dissertation in the field of virtual reality and mixed reality haptics.
