Lisa at the Creativity & Cognition Conference 2026

Lisa Hesselbarthpresented the paper “CreatureCreator: Co-Creating 3D Models with AI for Video Games via Sculpting and Drawing” at this year's ACM Creativity and Cognition 2026 conference, to which other members of our lab also contributed. In her paper, she explores which analog input methods: such as drawing with pen and paper or modeling with clay—are suitable for generating 3D models for game development with the help of AI. The goal is to make complex 3D modeling more accessible to inexperienced designers while enhancing users’ creativity.

The conference’s theme was “Creativity for Change.” In response to the rapid changes in our world, the conference focused on how creative processes can drive social change—for example, in areas such as decolonization, climate protection, and the design of urban and cultural spaces. The submitted papers explored how interactive systems, design, and creative approaches can address global challenges and open up new perspectives on societal problems. Keynote speakers included Prof. Anna Abraham, who studies the psychological and neurophysiological foundations of creativity and human imagination, and musician Kaffe Matthews, who experiments with space, data, and objects to create new electroacoustic compositions.

The conference took place from July 13 to 16 at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London, UK.

The conference proceedings offer further interesting insights into the event.
