Physics is regarded as the basis of all natural sciences; it considers the fundamental relationships in nature. The University of Bremen offers a solid basic education in the spectrum of experimental and theoretical physics and distinguishes itself through application-oriented and interdisciplinary research in the following areas:

•   Applied optics
•   Biophysics
•   Computational materials science
•   Solid-state physics
•   Theoretical physics
•   Environmental physics

A strong practical orientation of the studies with laboratory exercises, internships, experiments and own projects prepare the students for their daily future work in the best possible way. The professional fields for physicists are very diverse and range from basic research at universities and other research institutions to application-related research and development of devices and processes in various industrial sectors to work in government administration, in the patent system and many other areas.

The course is divided into three parts:

General part:

  • Mathematics

  • Experimental and theoretical physics

  • Supplementary studies

Elective part:

  • Biophysics

  • Solid-state physics

  • Theoretical physics

  • Environmental physics

  • Admission requirements: general or restricted university entrance qualification

  • Application deadline: July 15 (WiSe), January 15 (SoSe)
