Experimental cinema tends to overwhelm its audience by departing from mainstream conventions. This may occur casually through a break with representational and narrative conventions, but it can also be methodical through sophisticated studies of perception. The program shows a variety of provocative methods of challenging the nervous system through audiovisual means.

On display are the tongue-in-cheek beer commercial by one of the most influential activists of the avant-garde film movement. Using his legendary found footage montage technique yet another Austrian filmmaker deconstructs the genre cinema of Western. On the other hand an autobiographical narrative stream evokes emotional disturbance despite its flowing calmness. Unclear sound-image relationships lead to irritation of the language center in the brain. Finally, a condensed dolly zoom transforms a dreamy forest into a flashy spectacle of color.
