An agile cooperation in 2019 and ambitious plans for 2020 ...

The year 2019 is behind us, and we can look back on a number of successful developments. The working group has grown: Charlotta Cordes, Mareike zum Felde, Ann Hipp, Jarina Kühn and Toby Law have joined the team as scientific employees and Elian Habib as an apprentice. Contrary to hopes, we had to say goodbye to Muhamed Kudic. This was very difficult for us, because he has always enriched our work enormously, led third-party funded projects, built up student courses, supervised doctoral theses and contributed to the BreLAB and the INNcentive program with many ideas. We will remain in close contact with him - now as head of the Competence Center for Small and Medium-sized Businesses 4.0 at the University of Siegen!

There were many highlights in 2019: Maria Kristalova's doctorate, the EMAEE Best Paper Award for Matheus E. Leusin, Björn Jindras promotion to "Professor with Special Responsibilities" at the Copenhagen Business School, the international input-output workshop in Bochum, the annual conference of the Mod-Block-DDR project in Berlin, the third INNcentive Workshop in Bremen in connection with the BreLAB, the Summer School on "Economic Policy Advice" in Bochum, the scientific seminar in Thiessow with our colleagues from Jena and Ilmenau, the international "Networks" workshop in Stuttgart with colleagues from the ZSW and the University of Hohenheim, the international ICSID workshop in Bremen with the working group of Michael Rochlitz and in cooperation with the Higher School of Economics Moscow and last but not least the inaugural lecture by Michael Rochlitz, our cooperation professor in the project Mod-Block-DDR.

The output in some figures: 10 publications in peer-reviewed journals – among which several times in "Research Policy" and "Regional Studies", more than 30 scientific presentations at external, mostly international conferences, 15 transfer-oriented contributions (presentations, hearings, media), management of around 400,000 euros in ongoing externally funded projects, six conferences and workshops organised by us, eight guest speakers and research visits (incoming), two international research visits (outgoing) and seven new applications for external funding.

We would like to thank our cooperation partners, sponsors, friends and supporters and wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2020!
