Merry Christmas!

The year 2022 was anything but boring. Despite the pandemic-related circumstances, we were able to take many steps forward and to develop in research, teaching and transfer.

Jessica Birkholz, Katharina Friz and Matheus Leusin have successfully completed their PhD theses. A new BMBF funded third party project called "hyBit"- Hydrogen for Bremen's industrial Transformation has been acquired and we are happy to have Jessica Birkholz, Björn Jindra and Philip Kerner working in the project. The first two meetings of the DFG network "The Dynamics of Innovation Systems" for which Ann Hipp had obtained the funding took place. Tobias Wendler successfully obtained funding from the German Research Foundation under the Walter Benjamin Program. This enabled him to start a research project during a six-month stay at the "Tilburg Sustainability Center" with Professor Sjak Smulders. Ann Hipp and Mariia Shkolnykova received funding from BYRD for the postdoctoral network "Learning (from) Transformation".

The highlight of the year has been the election of Jutta Günther as Rector of the University of Bremen. She took up the position as Rector on 01.09.2022 and is now committed not only to her working group, but to the whole University of Bremen. In this context, we were also pleased to welcome Prof. Dr. Michael Rochlitz as acting head of our working group.

Burak Tas has moved to the Department 3 of the University of Bremen for the last phase of his training after completing his training period in our working group.

However, we have also received a new trainee. Romy Kaiser will complete her final year of training as an office management assistant with us. Our team was also expanded by two guest researchers: Svitlana Chugaievska (scholarship holder of the Volkswagen Foundation) and Luis Carlos Castillo Tellez (doctoral student at the Università di Urbino).

We can only report here in excerpts. Unmentioned are the many informal and spontaneous discussion rounds and conversations, new project proposals, media reports, conference contributions, and much more.

We would like to thank all granting organisations and cooperation partners and wish you a Merry Christmas and a good start into the New Year!
