Philip Kerner and Tobias Wendler present at the SES Annual Conference 2021

From April 26 to April 28, 2021, the international Scottish Economic Society (SES) Conference was held as an online event. Philip Kerner and Tobias Wendler each presented a current research paper from the overarching research field of green technologies.

Thanks to its open-topic design, the conference provided an opportunity to discuss current research issues with a broad audience of researchers with different research orientations.

Philip Kerner presented a research project in collaboration with Torben Klarl and Tobias Wendler entitled "The Impact of Green Technologies on Regional Performance: Evidence from European Regions".  In this research project, they address the regional economic growth impact of green technology development in Europe using an empirical approach that takes into account knowledge externalities and other non-observable interdependencies between regions. Tobias Wendler presented a research paper on "Natural resources and technology - on the mitigating effect of green tech" written in collaboration with Daniel Töbelmann and Jutta Günther. In the paper, they address the impact of green technologies on the use of natural resources in the countries of the European Union, with a particular focus on biomass and fossil resources.
