Seminar in Thiessow 2019: “New perspectives in the economics of innovation”

From September 30 to October 04, 2019 the research group of Jutta Günther participated for the third time in a scientific seminar together with colleagues from the Friedrich Schiller University Jena (research group of Uwe Cantner) and the Technical University of Ilmenau (research group of Thomas Grebel). The seminar took place in Thiessow at the Baltic Sea and was organized by Uwe Cantner from the Friedrich Schiller University Jena.

This year’s seminar took place under the motto “New dimensions in the economics of innovation”. The purpose of the seminar was to present and discuss especially young scholar’s current research projects related to empirical innovation economics. The sessions gave the opportunity to present full papers, research concepts or data projects. Worksop sessions were used to discuss joint scientific projects, teaching concepts, or data collection work. Complementary to this, evening sessions in the format of round tables allowed open discussions on topics of general interest, such as competition in Germany’s higher education and science system, the economic effects of German unification, and the Israeli technology system. The seminar was characterized by intensive scientific exchange, a very creative atmosphere and an enjoyable environment. We thank our colleagues from Jena for an excellent organisation.
