Job advertisement PhD position in the field of "Sustainability, Energy and Environmental Innovations"

At the Department of Economics at the University of Bremen, the Chair of Economics (Prof. Dr. Jutta Günther), from May 1, 2020 (or later) a position for a

Research Assistant (Doctoral Student) (f/m/d) - Pay grade 13 TV-L (50%)

to be filled for a limited period of 3 years - subject to vacancy clearance.

Field of work:

Scarcity of resources, environmental pollution and climate change are pressing challenges of our time, which are embedded in a social and economic context. Climate and environmental policy measures as well as regulations are drivers of structural change and represent a global task to be solved. In this area, the team at the Chair of Economics, especially innovation and structural economics, is dedicated to scientific analyses of the impact of green technologies on the achievement of climate policy goals. The scientific work is fundamental, empirical and at the interface of economic, social and technical sciences.

Tasks:

- Participation in the content-related and organisational implementation of the research project funded by the Bremer Aufbaubank: "Roadmap for a gradual defossilisation of the steel industry and urban infrastructures using electrolysis hydrogen in Bremen" (H2B)

- Implementation of own research in the field of innovation and sustainability research, with the possibility of using experimental research approaches in the BreLAB

- Participation in research projects of the working group and preparation of scientific publications about the research results

- Completion of a doctorate in one of the above-mentioned subject areas

Hiring requirements:

- A university degree with above-average grades (university diploma or master's degree with a total of at least 300 CP) in economics, business administration, business informatics or related subjects

- Strong interest in the topics: Sustainability, green technologies, environmental innovations, structural change

- Basic knowledge of quantitative and/or qualitative empirical methods in social and economic sciences

- Good knowledge of the English language, team orientation and scientific curiosity

Working conditions:     

- Freedom for independent research within the framework of a doctorate (usually cumulative)

- Use of a far-reaching data infrastructure, support in data technical work

- Participation in an international, agile working group of currently about 20 people

- Integration into the international research network of the working group

- Opportunity for further training in the field of empirical methods etc.

- Participation in doctoral courses, scientific meetings and international conferences
