Susanna Bolz presents at the 6th Pluralumn* Workshop in Hamburg

From August 27 to 29, 2025, the sixth Pluralumn* Workshop took place at the University of Hamburg under the motto “Empowering Young Minds.” The workshop was supported by the Plural Economics Network, the Young Scholars Initiative, the Center for Economic and Sociological Studies (ZÖSS) at the University of Hamburg, and the Department of Pluralist Economics at the European University of Flensburg. A large number of young scholars from different countries and disciplines came together to discuss current economic challenges from a pluralistic perspective.

Susanna Bolz was once again part of the organizing team and presented ongoing research from the hyBit project. In her research paper “The power of place – do local government interventions accelerate solar PV adoption in Germany?”, she analyzes the extent to which sustainability measures taken by German counties influence the number and capacity of newly installed solar panels by businesses and private households between 1985 and 2024. The presentation focused on an introduction to the scope for action of municipalities, counties, and federal states, as well as a discussion of the market master data register, which is the main data source for this project. The analysis utilizes a difference-in-differences approach.

Many thanks to the organizing team and all participants for the inspiring exchange and the helpful feedback.
