If you are interested in other topic that is not listed, you are also welcome to contact us with it

Bachelor students who are interested in writing thier final thesis under the supervision of our working group should register for the Bachelor Begleitseminar that takes place in summer semester every year. Even if you are planing to write your thesis in winter semester, you still have to participate in the seminar in the preceding summer semester.

The seminar comprises a combination of organising lectures, lectures on data sources, academic writing
and referencing, and sessions for student presentations. Each student has to present the concept and the
planned structure of his/her thesis.

Since the scientific work of our research group is empirically oriented, we are happy to supervise theses with an empirical-quantitative approach. However, this is not necessarily a requirement.

We would like to encourage you to formulate a topic by yourself. Please submit your suggestion of a topic only after your first literature review on the intended topic, and please develop an idea on how to structure the work. After this, please contact with some substantial suggestions via Email: office-guentherprotect me ?!uni-bremenprotect me ?!.de

Of course, you can also contact us within one of our seminars you are attending.

Course Description
The main purpose of the Bachelor-Begleitseminar 'Transition, Structural Change and Innovation' is to
provide Bachelor students at the final stage of their studies with useful information, sources and support
for successfully writing their Bachelor thesis.

The seminar comprises a combination of organising lectures, lectures on data sources, academic writing
and referencing, and sessions for student presentations. Each student has to present the concept and the
planned structure of his/her thesis.

Learning Objectives
During this seminar, students will attend lectures on:

  1. How to structure their thesis
  2. What are the available resources and data sources via the university library
  3. How to access these resources and use them properly
  4. How to access academic and scientific literature
  5. How to cite the references used in their final thesis properly
  6. What are the administrative procedures and the important deadlines according to the regulations of the university
  7. Supporting students with any issues and questions that they might have regarding their Bachelor thesis
  8. Furthermore, students will have the opportunity to get feedback on their thesis topics, concepts, and structure during this seminar

Rules for Success

  1. The seminar language is English. We expect students to use English language in this seminar for preparing their presentations as well for writing their thesis later on.
  2. Attendance: the regular attendance to the seminar sessions is obligatory. At the beginning of each seminar, students will be asked to sign their names in the attendance list. Please show up on time! If you missed a session, please provide us with your written excuse for being absent. This should be handed in to our colleague: Mr. Marcel Lange (Office: WiWi2 F2090)
  3. Participation: students are expected to participate actively in the seminar sessions. Your feedback to others presentations are very welcome and can be useful for them to improve their thesis structure. You can also benefit from them as well.
  4. Punctuality in meeting deadlines
  5. Presentations: each student has to give a 15-minute presentation about her/his thesis concept and structure. For more details, see the evaluation and grading policy section below.
  6. Do not hesitate to contact us whenever you have any questions or concerns!

The seminar evaluation will be based on your regular participation in the sessions, your thesis plan, and concept presentation. The result you get after completing the seminar will be either a ‘Pass’ or a ‘fail’ note. There will be no grading.
