ProKIP: Process development and support for the use of AI in care
Description
Artificial intelligence (AI) methods can be used to support nursing care. In addition to difficulties in accessing representative and high-quality data, research projects in the field of nursing and AI are also confronted with the challenge of involving nursing facilities and stakeholders in nursing practice in research and development and successfully cooperating with them during the course of the project.
Aims and approach
ProKIP aims to support the integration of AI solutions into care practice by designing an interdisciplinary, iterative support, consulting, networking and evaluation process for the joint projects in the BMBF funding programme "Making repositories and AI systems usable in everyday care" and to provide a theoretical and empirical basis. In addition to communication structures and a platform for knowledge and data exchange for the scientific community, research workshops (labs) and individual coaching and counselling services will be established. ProKIP is creating an AI care readiness assessment to evaluate research projects in the field and is working on topic-specific issues such as benefits, data representativeness, data sharing, the design of participation and ethical implications.
Innovations and perspectives
ProKIP provides insights into the characteristics of successful AI care projects and how AI solutions can support nursing care, those in need of care and carers. An innovative aspect is the examination of the possibilities of data protection by design for care-relevant digital data, which has only just begun to be systematised.
