Just half a year after the first introductory event, the second session of the Structured Doctoral Program Health Sciences took place on May 4 and 5, 2026.

Sudeepa Khanal Bhattarai, PhD candidate at the Department of Global Health of the Institute of Public Health and Nursing Research of the University of Bremen, successfully defended her dissertation at the University of Bielefeld in April.

In her project, funded by the Central Research Development Fund for three years, Dr. Fabienne Pradella investigates the impacts of heat during pregnancy on maternal health in West Africa with a focus on how these impacts are shaped by social inequalities.

Establishing “Männerschuppen” as community meeting places for men aged 50 and older is the goal of the new “Männerschuppen” project at the University of Bremen. It is now supported by the European Social Fund. In addition, new guidelines for planning and implementing “Männerschuppen" are available.

The Northwest Alliance is supported by staff and students from the universities of Bremen and Oldenburg. The ‘We Are Connected’ series showcases individuals from the fields of research, teaching, knowledge transfer and administration who collaborate across campuses.
