ICSID & QoG workshop “Institutions and development: a sub-national perspective”

Our institutional partner, International Center for the Study of Institutions and Development (ICSID), held its annual fall workshop on October 7-9. The event, “Institutions and development: a sub-national perspective”, was organized jointly with the Quality of Government Institute (QoG) at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden. The workshop was scheduled to take place in Gothenburg but was transferred to Zoom.

The workshop had a focus on regional governance and featured keynote speeches by Susanne Wengle (University of Notre Dame, USA) and Nicholas Charron (University of Gothenburg, Sweden). Michael Rochlitz discussed a paper on career trajectories of top regional officials in China and Russia, which is an extension of his 2015 article ‘Performance Incentives and Economic Growth: Regional Officials in Russia and China’, co-authored with Vera Kulpina, Thomas Remington and Andrei Yakovlev.

Last year’s ICSID workshop took place in Bremen and was co-organized by the Professorship of Institutional Economics.
